Rafa's doctor, Angel Ruiz Cotorro, was interviewed on the Spanish radio station, SER Deportes. As reported by Punto de Break, the good doctor says that Nadal's knee is better now than it was at the beginning of his comeback. Great news! (At least for Rafa fans, and surely for tennis.)

Does it mean he doesn't have to wear tape on his knees anymore?

Well, he hasn't been taping them, of late, and Dr. R-C says that the knee is better than it was. He says that Rafa is tired after a long season, but the knee is good.

He also said this: "I think you have to live the careers of athletes day-by-day, year-by-year and minute-by-minute. These players are subject to the maximum competition and maximum stress. We hope that all the work we have done can prolong his career. But it's very difficult to predict."

I'm not suggesting anything one way or the other, but I wouldn't put too much stock in any of that. To be clear, there is absolutely NO reason to suggest that Nadal's knee is not doing fine, but I also don't think his doctor would just go out there and say "yeah, his knee is pretty messed up."

I take your point on that, however, since we're interpolating what a person wouldn't do, I would suggest he might not agree to an interview if the knee wasn't doing well. :D
