He was featured on ATP site, after he qualified for the main draw in Rotterdam. His goal to brak into the top 100 came true in only a few days.
He is the youngest player in the top 100, I am hoping he will not fizzle out like many promising youngsters in the last few years:

Good for him! He was one that was called out by johnsteinbeck last year, who translated an article for us about him, and his unusual coach. Continued good luck, Dominic!

Also Jiri Vesely, a former boys' major champion, is a youngster now in the top 100 who has won a couple main draw matches. Thiem and Vesely have both made the 3rd round at IW.

Having seen Thiem yesterday courtside dismantle Simon..he is a monster....both wings have nuclear power. Simon hung in as long as he could, and I was surprised he could not neutralize and diffuse..but Thiem has total belief in his game. Pics later. The guy is a human pile driver.

His play did look good and he would look good, but his skin reminds me of The Dog's. I would have to be undergoing some treatment for that myself.

Actually it is just a bit of mild acne..no scarring. Dog has very severe scarring poor guy..maybe related to his disease. His father did not appear to have acne scarring.

I am sure Thiem's face will clear up in a year or two...;)

This just in Miami: "Qualifier Dominic Thiem d. Lukas Rosol — The 6-foot-1 20-year old from Wiener Neustadt, Austria, is a player to watch this year, even if Grigor Dimitrov will be the attracting most of the attention. Thiem jumped to No. 86 thanks to a great Indian Wells (two main draw wins after qualifying), but he still had to qualify for Miami because of the deadlines in the entry system. You know what? Having to qualify when in theory you don’t have to qualify is difficult and laden with pressure. But Thiem handled it beautifully, and backed it up with a first-round win over the explosive if erratic Rosol."

Well he lost to Tommy Robredo in straights, but he didn't make it easy: 6-4, 7-6.

I like what I see in Thiem a lot. He definitely looks like top 20 material, as does Vesely. Anymore and, well, we'll just have to see.

Why would you turn a double-handed backhand into a single-handed backhand?
