With Murray at #1 and Djoker supposedly eager to come back, also Federer and Nadal not willing to give up, Delpo back, Wawrinka always around the corner and perhaps some other players capable of winning a slam or two like Cilic or Raonic, what do you think who will win each slam in 2017?

This is pretty wide open and tough to call.

OK, wild punt...

Australian Open: Djokovic
French Open: Del Potro
Wimbledon: Murray
US Open: Murray

Del Potro is obviously the clown punt at Roland Garros... but I always thought a few years ago if he could stay healthy and get into the second week, he'd be a real dangerman at RG. Thiem might be a future winner at RG too, just a bit too early for him IMO. Djokovic, Murray and daresay even Nadal if he shows some early season form will likely be favourites - but at this stage it's too fuzzy, so I'll go Delpo... subject to change fo course, as the season unfolds.

Hope you're right, I'ld love to see Delpo win in my town

My gut feeling is almost opposite to @britbox this time. I don't think Nole will win a slam in first part of the year but I think he may win last 2. I think Federer may be good enough for AO and Nadal for RG.

I could go with some of that. Murray may finally win the AO, after so many trips to the finals. Nadal could regain the French. If I were to pick one for Del Potro, I might think he'd win again at the USO. Wimbledon is always tough. Murray is defending, and if keeps on a roll, he might just take it again. Djokovic should be a favorite in all of them, though I don't think he repeats at the French. If there's a first time winner this year, Nishikori and Raonic would be the safer picks. Also, I don't think Stan wins another one. He may spoil, but not win. IMO.

^Yeah, the rumblings from the Delpo camp indicate the wrist is still a big issue - hence the withdrawal from the AO.

I'll go with Djokovic in Paris.

I can find nothing in the Argentinian press that it's the wrist, though other explanations don't tell much. They talk about the effort to win DC. He's spoken of fitness. The plan, as far as I can tell, is to come back for Acapulco. He's training on hard courts. If the wrist were an issue, I don't see why he'd play an exhibition with Ferrer, even if it's just a hit-around. The Argie press says that he wants to come back fully fit to make the most of 2017. The question is why he doesn't feel fully fit to play the AO.

Delpo confirmed he won't play Auckland nor Melbourne.

Will Federer use protected ranking? Seeded 16 he can play Nadal in round 4 and then winner may play Novak which is all ridiculous.

Will Tipsarevic have to play qualifications?:

Protected ranking only gets you into a tournament, but doesn't change the seeding. So it wouldn't help Roger, and your scenario is possible, if I understand the rule correctly. And yes, Tipsarevic will have to play qualifiers, if he doesn't have protected ranking.

The best part about the ATP is it's unpredictability, but regardless, here are my picks for Grand Slam winners 2017.

Australian Open: Andy Murray
Roland Garros: Gael Monfils
Wimbledon: Roger Federer
US Open: Novak Djokovic

AO: Djokovic
RG: Djokovic (completes DCGS)
W: Wawrinka (completes CGS)
USO: Del Potro
The DCGS and CGS are good arguments against Djokovic repeating at RG or Stan winning Wimbledon. Neither is especially great under that kind of pressure.
