The Tournament:

The SkiStar Swedish Open in Bastad was voted by players as the ATP World Tour 250 Tournament of the Year for 11 consecutive years from 2002-13. The clay court event, which has been held every summer since 1948, has consistently improved its venue and tournament. In 2011, Robin Soderling became the first multiple Swedish titlist since Magnus Norman in 2000.

About Bastad

The town of Bastad is located in a sheltered bay with the Hallandian ridge stretching behind it. The town borders the shore, whereafter the terrain raises until the dense vegetation of the ridge takes over.

The first city privileges were granted in the 14th or 15th century, when the area belonged to Denmark. The first certain date is 1513 when it was re-granted. At the time, the name in print would translate to "Boat (landing) place".

In 1658 the area was conquered by Sweden, and Bastad was given new "special" privileges in 1664, because it was of too insignificant size to receive the full royal charter as one of Sweden's cities. The minor privilege allowed the town to be used for commerce, handicraft and hostelry. The minor privilege was in effect until 1858 when it got proper rights as a merchant town, or koping. It has been the seat of Bastad Municipality Bastad since 1971.

I gotta go with Carreño Busta here. He's the hope of Spain. And I don't see Khachanov as a clay man.

PCB was eliminated in R1
:lulz2: Clearly I haven't been paying attention. But I just saw that Dolgo beat Khachenov today in 3 tight ones.

Soderling should have made a cameo to whoop his ass in the final again.

Seeing you'd posted on this thread, I bet myself $5 that Soderling would be mentioned, and I won! It's touching how much you miss the big Swede.

Haha. Well, he's the tournament director still I believe and would be nice to see him kick Ferrer into retirement :p

Hey, he's a hard-working guy, and at 35, he's on his last laps. I don't see why you guys have to begrudge him or belittle him. I don't wish your favorites out of the game. :good:

Because the players I like don't have any association or connection with TenisVal or Dr. Luis Garcia Del Moral. Good riddance to him once he's gone imo.
