Do I - as a Masha fan - predict this and that victory about Masha? - Nope - I prefer to be happy after a Masha victory instead

As a Masha fan all I can hope for is that Masha plays well and that she'll be able to defeat the players she faces at the other side of the net - That's what fans do - But whoever she plays - I've always the utmost respect for all Masha's opponents and I would never speak ill about them

I've read through the comments and all I can say is that those many experts here who've picked this and that player and who have endless theories why this or that player will defeat Masha have been mistaken more often then not and yet they never seem to learn about their mistakes - The same experts here picked Stosur - Muguruza - Bouchard and Halep to take out Masha in the recent French Open and although Masha struggled through all these matches - in the end she stood there as the champion - Even experts like Bodo and Tignor make the same mistake over and over again by dismissing Masha before a tournament even has started

Now I'm not claiming that Masha will win Singapore or that she even is able to reach the semis - Only time can tell - Everything can happen - even injuries - in a tournament in which only the top 8 players of the world participate - Looking however at Masha's opponents in the White group I have to note that none them have a superior H2H against Masha - on the contrary

Sharapova vs Kvitova 6-2 - Sharapova vs Wozniacki 5-2 - Sharapova vs Radwanska 10-2
In the other group Masha's H2H vs the other players except for Serena (2-16) are
Sharapova vs Ivanovic 9-4 - Sharapova vs Bouchard 3-0 and Sharapova vs Halep 5-0

It really baffles me that so few give Masha a chance given the facts above - I also wonder how these experts still can think that they can be taken seriously - To me it looks more like wishful thinking then serious analyses - Another thing that surprises me is that hardly anyone give Masha credit as a hard court player - Suddenly they seem to forget that Masha won Indian Wells 2013 and was among the few who've won that title twice - Masha also reached Miami's final in 2013 only to be beaten by Serena Williams

Also the fact that Masha showed good form and tennis in Beijing and basically only had a struggle vs Kvitova in the final looks promising for Masha to do good in her group :) - So - at least my hopes are up and all I can say is

Well I am sticking with my earlier observation in this match up between Sharapova v Woznicacki

We all saw how Caroline defeated Maria at the USO,Caroline knows what she has to do to defeat Maria, she also wont back down from the challenge,if Caroline brings the same game plan into this match,I am picking Caroline to win.

Kvitova v Radwanska

Aga is in a slump at present,to me she over plays tournaments, she always has some form of tape on her body,I believe it has to do with the way she plays the game, she is slight women, she has to battle hard against the big hitters of our game. This will be Petra's fourth consecutive appearance at the YEC,I have picked Petra as my Dark Horse in this tournament,Petra has a outstanding indoor record,I believe Petra will be too strong for Aga.Petra to win.

Today was a tease! I need more than 2 matches a day.

I don't think Caro can beat a streaky Masha, Masha in straights, though it may go 3
Petra on a hot streak means trouble for Aga, Petra in 2

A streaky Masha? we shall see.If Maria wins this match it wont be in straight sets?
Just my personal thoughts. Then again I am always open if my predications dont come true.....;)

You'll get your filling of matches, after tomorrow they'll have to schedule at least 3 matches a day I think. Let me check: after Tuesday we have 8 matches left for 3 days if we get semis Saturday and finals Sunday.

Coming off a win in Beijing, yes I will declare her a streaky Masha, on a good streak I may add.

Mashafan, I like your cheerleader smileys.

Hoergreen, I like your cook'em smileys too.

Hard to pick between these two smileys, given that I am hungry than horny at the
moment, I will pick cook'em smileys.

Go, Caro. I agree with fashionista's views on this match.

On WTA's homepage I think there is a page which is quite inbteresting - 10 things about Tuesday:

http://www.wtatennis.com/news/article/4232592/title/10-things-tuesday-in-singapore#.VEWIDkgKnqI.twitter

Here are the headlines - then you can use the link to see why that came around - nice.

1) Sharapova could take No.1 from Serena after this tournament.
2) Wozniacki has the longest active streak for year-end Top 10 finishes.
3) Sharapova is one of just two players here to have a winning H2H against the rest of the field.
4) Sharapova leads this head-to-head, but Wozniacki might have an edge today.
5) Both players love fast courts - their best Grand Slam is Wimbledon
6) Kvitova is one of only three players to win this tournament on her debut.
7) Radwanska doesn't really like playing lefties.
8) But if there's one tournament she wants to play Kvitova at, it's this one.
9) The doubles draw ceremony will take place - and you can watch it unfold live.
10) The first WTA Rising Stars Invitational champion will be crowned.

The new Martina doubles trophy:

Oh, I guess this (no.1 item in the list above) means, if Serena's BFF beats Maria, then the fight for YE #1 will be over in a jiffy.

Why guess - if you use a minimum amount of effort you'll get this comment on the WTA page following the link ;)

With Serena winning her first match on Monday, Sharapova needs to at least reach the final with a 2-1 round robin record - or win the title - to have a chance at No.1. But if Serena keeps winning, those minimum requirements will increase. Watch this space for all the updates on the year-end No.1 race!

I put in that much effort, but the spin is totally in the opposite direction in the short version
(who writes these things). By putting it as no. 1 item, it makes it looks as though Maria can
become no. 1 if she wins the Tuesday's match (I know that is not what they say even in
the short version, but I am talking about appearances here) where as in reality if Maria
loses the match, Serena's #1 is guaranteed independent of whatever the heck happens
in the rest of the WTAF (on a side note, WTAF sounds lot better in contrast to WTF of ATP :snigger).

Caro has taken the first set and is hitting Maria's ball as if to say: Shut your mouth and stop all of that screaming!! Maria has more than 340 DFs for the season - WTF! I wonder if any top player in the history of the sport has had more. I can't imagine any in the top 10. I actually felt a little sympathy (just a little) for Pova at set point because you could hear whispering from the crowd. They were surely speculating that she would DF on match point and she did.
