WTA just announced that Serena qualified for Singapore. Really a formality.

I think both ATP and WTA announce these things not at the exact time in which they actually achieve it, but at the time that they calculate it to be giving good publicity to ATP and WTA.

Well I think at this point it would be stupid for them to pretend that she didn't qualify at this point 2 slam wins and in the semis of a third.

I would not have guessed Carla at #4. What did she do this year?

Maria should do everything in her power to maintain #2 ranking. Otherwise, she may be placed in the same group as Serena and lose to Serena twice in Singapore.

If CSN doesn't stay afloat this summer and fall she might not make it. I am hoping Garbine qualifies.

I too would like to see Garbine qualify. There is less than 600 points separating #4 from #8 and so lots of changes will happen before that. In particular, one or two who is not on top 10 currently may qualify.

Vika could theoretically qualify depending on her summer and fall.

I hope she does. Rankings aside, she is probably the #2 player. It would be cruel, if she does not get a chance to play in Singapore. Where does she stand right now.

#20 with 1576 points. She would have to perform very well and hope others ahead of her don't perform close to or better than her.

tired of certain players at YEC who dont do much...looking forward to new faces like Timea,Carla,Garbi,Pliskova and Safarova..
Vika and Maria will have h2h with Serena of 20-3 and 21-2 respectively..the hard courts are going to be brutal for these two..

At least Vika and Maria make it to Serena, those other ladies might have just as bad of a record if they were consistent enough to make it to Serena. I mean I would much rather have Vika there taking Serena to three than CSN there losing 6-2, 6-0. There are other players with just as lopsided head to heads against her like Aga and Errani, Li Na had a lopsided head to head. Hell even the much touted Kvitova finally got a win over Serena, but that was because she finally wasn't a loser for once and made it to Serena. Kvitova can't even make it to Serena most of the time. Maybe some of those other ladies can have a 17-4 or 20-3 record just like Vika and Maria and everyone else who does if they could actually consistently make it to her.

Vika and Maria can take it to Serena and still lose...these two rivalries are getting tiresome.Vika is good for a set and pova has been in mental prison for eleven years going on to twelve with no end in sight.Serena struggles against small players who have excellent footwork...a la Henin
Vika and pova should form a group since they said Serena gives them extra attention, gather all other victims on tour like Aga,Carla,Kvitova,Wozniacki,Safarova,Errani...and invite Mauresmo as a honorary member because she knows how it felt to lose consistently to Serena or a cheerleader like Clijsters who finally beat her with a little help from that footfault call and all those after birth hormones running through her veins....
I think Serena enjoyed beating Amelie because she used to talk very bad about the sisters to the media...pova is passive aggressive against Serena and deserves to be flogged and Azarenka has started talking negatively and that will put her in that Momo pova category..

Among the top 10 you listed, I would prefer that Carla and Kerber don't make it. I hope Garbine qualifies. We need fearless young girls with firepower in this event.
