You remember the big "hisser?" She only got that far because the women rarely had upsets back then; even on the grass! Austin going out to Mima Jausovec and BJK was about it! It was quite standard for all 8 top seeds to make it to the quarters in the 70's and 80's! They gave Evert Lloyd a nice excuse when Kathy Jordon took her out one year! How things have changed; in more ways than one!

Hopefully soon she will be the first Romanian to hold #1 ranking.
I remember Virginia Ruzici. She was a class act.

I admire Simo's court behavior, she is classy, she is not the type that yell come-on after every point or fist-pump, I am not saying those are forbidden but in my eyes it's more professional to do the celebrating after the match.

Hopefully Simo will inspire a whole generation of Romanians just like Kournikova did for Russians.

She respects the game because she respects herself.
Dont be fooled by her smiles, she can have a lot of venom and she used it.
She wont use venom in Paris or London because of the stage and her successful results but she used her venom in all the small events that brought her to the top.
She used venom, fight and grind in Budapest after being beaten by Mladenovitz and Babos in one month. She beat Svitolina in Budapest in the fed cup v Ukraine by using venom and fight, not quality tennis.
She is not as shy as it looks ;)
If you look for an angel its not her, BUT she will never play dirty or cheat because she respects herself.

I am no way near those times. Its like another era for me even if I am not that young.

I really wanted Simone to win this thing, but that injury had a lot to so with her loss.

There is always the next time.
I feel more confident now about her next matches with Genie than before the match!
She was not destroyed even when playing on one leg.

Happy news for this board! :)

The Simona storm will land on the USA shores not before 9 August when the Cincinnati event starts.
She havent confirmed Cinci yet but thats when she is probably back in USA. The plan is simple:
She lets Sorana Cirstea win the double in Washington and Montreal! :) Genie cant sleep at night knowing that Sorana is coming to her hometown to take her title.

This means less posts from some crazy Simona fan here and a real improvement in the life quality of the other posters.
Enjoy ;)

Exactly Si Si. I have no doubt she will be winning majors soon. My next fav after Vee and Ree.

if it wasn't for that injury, I think she could have made it to the final
