And I mostly mean how they are called. The ATP has the masters 1000's, masters 500's and masters 250's. That's simple and everyone knows what it means because it's obvious that a masters 1000 is a bigger event than a masters 500 which is a bigger event than a masters 250.
The WTA has premier mandatory events, premier5's, premiers and internationals. I challenge any casual fan to explain the ranking order of events with names like that. I would propose that all premier mandatorys and premier5's would be masters 1000's - the difference between the two is almost negligible anyway. Premiers would become masters 500's and internationals masters 250's.
