We might as well call this season as the Chinese swing instead of Asian swing. I think Tokyo is the only non-Chinese tournament in the Asian swing season.

Well, it's still the Asian swing, though, with Tokyo. Does it shock you that the ATP/WTA are invested in China, given the population, and the fact that Li Na has single-handled excited a tennis boom there? Where would you prefer to see another tournament?

I don't mind China being a dominant force in the Asian Swing season, considering their economy and population. However, I would not want it to be exclusively China tourneys in Asian Swing. It would be nice to have some tourneys, at least the 250s in other parts like they had before in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand or even India or SriLanka

It's never going to be exclusively China, as Japan is an economic powerhouse, and they have Nishikori. India does have Chennai, earlier in the year. As it is, some of these tournaments are not yet well-attended. I can see why the ATP (and the WTA) is putting it's energies in China, for now. By contrast, there are no MS 1000s in South America, and just 1x 500. They seem to be alternating 250s in Chile, Colombia and Ecuador. Perhaps they could do that in the lesser markets in Asia, too.

Seems like he couldn't. He lost today to Dzumhur.

Dzumhur's on a roll right now. Is he on your radar much?

He beat Fognini last week in a final. He's had some quality wins. He beat Nadal last year, (although via retirement) in Miami, I think, so I've been keeping an eye on him. Probably a solid mid-pack guy, but a bit of confidence can go a long way, and as to Zverev, he's probably tired and still has to work on pacing himself, and scheduling. I would say jet-lag could have been involved.

Why would be Zverev be more affected by jet-leg than Dzumhur when both flew in from Europe?
Point is Sasha struggled in the previous match as well just barely defeating Darcis. Maybe he is tired and should scale back.

I was just thinking of Sasha being in Prague last weekend. But Dzumhur just played a final v. Fognini in St. Petersburg, so there's no difference there. I do think that some of the young guys, like Thiem that I mentioned earlier, are playing a lot, and it's catching up to them.

I'm surprised the tour hasn't paid more attention to India as a growth market. Potential is frightening.

Yes, but I can appreciate how they will focus on a few markets, at a time. Nadal has a school in India, as one of his charities. They don't focus on tennis, but they teach it. Over time, that will help make India a bigger market. But if the ATP dilutes their resources too much, they won't make an impact anywhere. Don't you think?
