World Number One Serena Williams has elected to take a wildcard entry for the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.
The decision comes on the back of a disappointing Olympic Games for the American. She was bumped out of the first round of the Doubles competition with sister Venus and then suffered a shock third round exit in the Singles event to Elina Svitolina.
Serena has played only three matches since her Wimbledon triumph and will be looking to get some matches under her belt before the start of the US Open.
