Rather more by the 'decade,' if you're including Maria. This list hardly describes a trend.

While there is no trend here, Serena is surely marked. Everybody wants to bring their
best against her and that is how it should be.

Hats off to all the girls who make her life difficult.

serena is not done, she can win big tourneys again..

clearly some new ladies are coming through fast..plus azarenza and co, maybe even sharapova could finally beat williams againafter 7004 defeats in a row.

serena's interior gerbil is still trundling around the exercise wheel of win.

By no means is she done. However, I think she won't touch Graf.

Ana played extremely well and took this from Serena. This was not Serena playing poorly; ana just flat out hit her and pressured her--she did not wilt. Her FH was as strong as Serena's and the double faults never materialized.

You covered it! Ana just played well and her serve was solid for a change! She normally has a lot more double-faults and her usual nerves didn't materialize! Serena needed help in getting through this match and Ana didn't make contributions to her! :clap

Serena is no better or worse than where she was this time last year. For the last two years she has won Brisbane and lost at the AO. Let's see what happens for the rest of the year before she is considered done.

P.S. If I had a nickel for every time the bell tolled for Serena's demise ...........

For once you are right Sherona. She is done "down under" for 2014.

Exactly. Serena would need to end the year empty-handed at Majors before I would seriously think there has been a significant change. Wimbledon and the USO, in particular, will be the ones to watch for.

I tend not to frequent these parts but Serena's far from done. She was playing with a back injury (which her coach made sure he brought up immediately aftewards by the way).

I caught parts of the re-run and I saw Ivanovic playing Nalbandian-ball. She was returning aggressively and following those sharp-angle/deep returns by charging to the net.

It was excellent tennis. It was Nalbandian tennis.

Serena was indeed playing poorly. It's difficult to move and

hit freely with a bad back. However, Ana did play exceptionally

well and ..........Congrats to her!

Good luck Ana!

How is Serena done? She just won a title in Brisbane beating both Maria and Vika. She is going to have an off tournament here and there. Unfortunately, I would prefer if she was going to be off she had it at the smaller tournaments and not the majors, but thems the breaks. Serena usually comes off the better for her losses and fixes her problems for the next tournaments. That is the one saving grace about Serena unlike her opponents she does fix her problems and improves upon losses and doesn't back peddle.
