I don't think that's fully true. I worked my way through the draw challenge, and Novak has some young guys who are trending atm. Tsitsipas was a finalist there last year.
Tsitsipas is 20. If he's got nothing left then he needs to beef up his training. However, delPotro, who is on Roger's side, is playing in a final tomorrow, and may not have much left. Roger's got Thiem in there, who looked pretty good when he won St. Petersburg recently, but I don't know how much of a threat he is to Fed. Maybe Nishikori? Given that he's playing well and will have support in Asia.oh cmon sitsipas is done for the season, he got nothing left
How fast is the Shanghai surface?
How can Shanghai and Basel be that fast if Nadal has made the finals of both...Shanghai twice? I thought fast surfaces don't suit him. Anyway, I may modify my comment about Roger's draw...he's got Medevev in his first match, if Daniil makes it through, and the Russian is on a hot streak.Shanghai and Basel are very fast and London is slow. So good tennis means he wins Shanghai and Basel at the very least. I don't give him much of a chance at London vs a decent Djoker.

I still wish Roger had pulled the plug on the year and geared up for 2019. If he continues to suck that does not bode well for next year. And if he plays well (wins at least 2 tournaments) then that shortens his rest quite a bit. .

I take that point, but it's just tennis, and my understanding is that the Asian players enjoy a lot of support across the pan-Asian community. It's not like there are loads of Asian stars in tennis, but I could be wrong about that. However, I didn't find the Chinese as prejudiced against the Japanese as the reverse, in my own experience. You need a history lesson if you think Kei will get support in China. #Nanking
