Urszula probably had a letdown after that win over Venus. It happens all the time.

It sure looks that way Kiu. Down 7-6 5-2. This would be a monumental comeback if she could do it, but I don't think she has the confidence to pull of that kind of win right now.

Went down in straights to an unseeded player ranked 47.
Prior to this year, Bojana had never beaten Caro before, Now she beats her twice in a row, first Rome and now here in Paris.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

Come to the chat window where people might be watching the match and commenting at the same time. I'm trying to encourage people to use it.

Serena is up 4-0 in the first set.

Sabine won in straights, serving a bagel in the second set.

Serena said no to the idea of an upset today!

And Pavly went out, so Serena's draw is really opening up. She just needs to keep it together!

How much more can it open up? It was the easiest of the top seeds by far. Is Kuzzy still in? That could be a challenge for Serena if they meet.

Yes Kuzzy and Ivanovic are still in it which are in my opinion the biggest threats on that side to Serena. I mean Cirstea is a crafty player and could give Serena fits if she doesn't keep the focus. I would say if Radwanska wasn't a clay flake, she got the easiest draw, but she is.

I guess Serena will be playing doubles on the day she plays singles. I don't see her listed for doubles tomorrow.

While I admire Serena's ability to speak French, she would be wise to not look like a "kiss ass" and give the French a reason to dislike her. Save the French for a victory in the finals should you take this crown. I feel like she is trying to overcompensate and be like hey French crowd you should like me I speak your language.

Actually, the French prefer if you at least make an attempt to speak their language. I heard that years ago and learned first hand when I was in Paris.

They'll actually help in English if you're French isn't that good, but, an effort is appreciated.

Also, Serena and Venus learned French back in the early 2000's and Serena spoke French during the trophy ceremony in 2002.

Its true. I studied in Paris. Almost anywhere you go people have at least a conversational ability to speak English but they really appreciate if you begin by speaking French, then they will answer in English. I mean we say that as if we as Americans don't almost INSIST someone speak English here, even in NYC our most international city.

Serena and Venus have pulled out of the doubles. No reason was given. See article here:
