There are a few hours left to get in your picks.

Ciick on the Draw Challenge on the menu bar to get instructions, if you've never played. It's a fun way to put your head into the draw, if nothing else. Do play!

Goffin v. Musetti first round? Am I giving the youngster too much credit that this will be tough?

I'm not sure how deep Thiem will go. He faces The Beautiful Pablo Andújar first round, who beat Roger in Geneva. He's back to having some decent results after some injury years. Either way, I don't think Thiem will make it out of the QFs.

And what to do with Medvedev?

I did my part for the drawchallenge. However, I was too lazy to do women's draw, they are too unpredictable so the challenge is less interesting I would say.

Good point about Goffin musetti. Well that match was a head scratcher to mee. Bookies have Musetti as a favourite, but Goffin can be really good. I first picked Musetti and then changed to Goffin thinking experience and maybe rest will come into play, so I picked the belgian.

Thiem will go down later, maybe against Ruud, but don't see him going deep as you said.

I picked Medvedev to win a few rounds, he can't keep losing forever in R1 and then he has quite a good draw there. I hope he doesn't embarass himself once again..

Your draw looks good Moxie, I just have one objection with Bautista Agut. You seem to favour him, but clay is not his forte and don't think he will go that far.

And then we have a SF we all want to see Nadal - Djokovic. I picked Novak, but that's more a fan in me and some wishful thinking.

I also scratched my head about Karatsev, I picked him to lose against Rublev, though I think he is capable of winning that match.

No one knows what Fed can do, but he has the easiest draw possible. Even Berettini match he could win once he gets in the groove and possible meeting with Novak, but he can also lose R2 against maybe Cilic or that new french guy.

Oh, good, I'm glad you're playing. As to Musetti and RBA, I should explain something up-front. When I don't have a preference when watching a sport, or when picking in a draw, or if I just can't decide, I go with a Spaniard, Italian or American, if there is that to help me. Besides that, with Musetti I'm a little bit hoping that the young guy continues to impress. Goffin was that young guy some years back when he took a set off of Roger here in an early match and the world took note. I don't especially favor Bautista Agut, and I know he's more of a HC guy. But I hit a fork in the road in my draw, and I followed the Spanish flag, plus also because he's mature and solid in big tournaments.

Karatsev/Rublev will be fun for us, since we each flipped the coin, and came up differently. I agree that could go either way. We can make it a little side competition, to add some spice to it. Winner buys the beer when the pandemic is over and we find ourselves on the same side of the Atlantic. :)

I did post somewhere about Thiem v. Andújar as potentially tricky. I see that Pablo is up a break in the fourth to maybe take Dominic to a decider. I didn't pick an upset, but it's not impossible.

You got me all emotional here. Okay, it's a deal then. Still plan to visit NY some day, if I go there I'll holla at ya ;)

As for the draws, I need to teach myself whenever I smell a possibility of upset just go for it.

You must LMK if you come to NYC, that would be fun! You know, it's not easy to go for the gut on upset. Because when you're wrong, you keep looking at that red line on your draw and wonder, "What was I THINKING??" :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Well, you were right...I picked the wrong fork in the road there. :(

So did I, many wrong picks in the first 2 rounds. Remember you still have Nadal all the way through, while I gambled with Novak.
I'm going to brag on this while it lasts, because it surely will change. But I'm at the top of the pile, for the moment!

There are many people who play our draw challenge, and I have no idea who they are. But for real posters here, as far as I'm concerned, you won the draw challenge!

Thnx Moxie. The drawchallenge this time rewarded the brave choice of sticking with Novak. Last year it didn't. I could have done even better if I just backed up Musetti and PCB a bit more. I actually ended up 20th in total standings which is my highest so far. Can't complain. It's a fun game.
