One match that sometimes flies under the radar when we are talking about the great ones, was the 2003 Australian Open Quarter Final featuring Andy Roddick and the unheralded El Aynaoui.
Roddick defeated El Aynaoui 4-6, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, 21-19 in an 83 game epic lasting nearly five hours. The fifth set last 2 hours and 23 minutes alone.
Roddick was seeded 9 and El Aynaoui 18... Roddick would get surprised by Rainer Schuettler in the semi-finals. However, he did go on to win the US Open and capture the World Number One berth by the end of the year at 21 years of age.
