I am a fed fan but today I was just admiring the game of Rafael Nadal . He is just too godly :clap:clap

is this the absolute pinnacle of his game . I think he is playing at a much higher level than he was in 2008 especially his game off clay . I think this is one of the peaks oh his great career .

I also feel when its all said and done he will be the undisputed GOAT , nobody has ever dominated him and he is great on all surfaces

Great post, tennisville, and he is a great role model too, as they all are.

But.
This.
Comeback.

Seven months away and now he's #1 again, he's the greatest I've ever seen, and I ain't given much to hype...

I also hope he wins the year ending event once in his career . He deserves it considering he is one of the best players ever . He is just too good a player not to have won that event

I hope he takes it this year as he is right now the best player on the hards

And he is not no 1 yet Kieran but he is sure to be the year end no 1

Yes...I think is 120 points from #1, with nothing to defend. He will end the year at #1.

I am not happy that for the longest time I was not happy with the Clay Warrior.

The guy keeps proving people wrong...They say he is a dirt devil, he goes ahead and wins a couple of wimbys...They say but he is not that good on hards, he goes and has one of the best hard court seasons ever...after a 6 months break.

This kid is pretty good eh?

I don't value indoor tennis myself, so I don't mind either way who wins the World Tour Finals. A 2nd singles gold medal is what I want to see Nadal win, in 2016 preferably. Also the double-career-grand-slam would be a good idea, with the AO being next.

I know I'm grateful. He's made me look like a genius for almost a decade now. I have one of the best reputations known to man, thanks to Nadal.

I guess his modesty hasn't quite had the same effect.

right he is too good not to win it sometime, and he deserves to finish the season no 1 for sure. I like to see stay at no 1 for a bit longer, a bit underachieving in that regard.

I think you are making a major mistake in talking about him strictly in terms of "winning matches" and "results" - as if he is just any other player out there who is going after titles.

The truth is that what separates Nadal is some kind of transcendent mental profile. Kieran picked up on it a while ago and he is right. The consistency, constancy, persistence, intensity, and concentration - combined with infinite stamina - is a bizarre combination. It is weird, but it is in a competitive sense a chunk of idealism.

In terms of stamina and mental persistence, Rafael Nadal is an ideal. In other ways, he isn't. But in those he is.

We all can only learn from it.

Nadal's modesty is not fake, because he realizes more than anyone why he wins and how imperfect a player he is.

before Moxie gets all mad, i will agree that he really has the mental edge over anyone i've ever seen - he is stronger mentally than anyone. in his after match interview with Becker he said ".....with the limits in my game i don't know how i beat him (Djoker)......"

There is no doubt he hasn't got as perfect a game as Federer or Djoker but he is only a notch below and more than makes up for it with his mental fortitude. I suppose that's what matters.

How did you get from what I wrote that I am only talking about "winning matches" ? I talked about proving people wrong...and that includes you. Nobody, repeat, nobody achieves what Nadal has achieved so far with just "stamina" and " persistence"...The guy plays tennis...he is a tennis player. He usually has better strategy than his opponents. And , this might come as a surprise to you, he can actually hit the ball really good.;)

This is why I've never understood why anyone would be a fan of Federer. Federer has no admirable qualities. He has talent and.....nothing. Nadal inspires people to improve themselves by learning from his mental strength and work ethic. Nadal is very similar to Michael Jordan, because Jordan was also known for mental strength and work ethic. Jordan was known for being cut from his high school team, and also being criticized early in his NBA career for weaknesses, which he fixed to prove the doubters wrong.

That was completely uneeded :nono

Federer is a remarkable player as well . Both of them are one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen. Why cant we leave it at that ? And you really think Federer would have achieved anything with talent alone then you are so wrong . It pains me really that Federer was never given due credit for the amount of hard work he put on the practise courts. Ypu cant achieve anything on talent alone, you have to put in the hard work

Anyway this is the last shot for me , welcome to my ignore list . Hopefully people wont quote you because I dont want to read any of your posts

How has he proven me wrong? When have I ever guaranteed that he won't win a match?

I never have. I simply state what should happen if his opponents don't make petty mistakes and/or play to their potential.

If Nadal has proven anyone wrong, it is the so-called tennis "experts" of the board like imjimmy and broken who claim that Nadal is no longer as quick as he once was. They look like such asses for their repeated comments to that effect that it isn't even funny.

As for stamina and persistence: you misunderstand my point. I have never said that that is all Nadal has. Rather, I have maintained that this is what accounts for his H2H success against other top players and the degree of his achievements. His tennis skills don't explain those things nearly as much as the stamina and persistence qualities. That is the point.

As for his ball-striking, I complimented it on the match thread.
