Canadian Milos Raonic is celebrating the end of a silverware drought after defeating Joao Sousa 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in St Petersburg.
“It’s such a great feeling to come to St. Petersburg and to be able to win this event” said the victor after claiming his first title in over a year.
Sousa provided stern opposition and broke Raonic’s serve in the second set to take the second stanza after the Toronto native had taken the opener.
Raonic broke early in the third, benefiting from a double fault on break point in the second game. He wasn’t to be broken again and sealed victory in little over two hours.
