The cake and champagne look delicious. I hope he had a bite or two, but he probably didn't. It reminds me of the pic of Andy's birthday a few weeks ago, showing him serving food to others.

In 2001, former Wimbledon champions Pat Cash and Boris Becker were scheduled to play an exhibition in Mallorca.

Becker pulled out late and a 14 year old by the name of Rafael Nadal stepped into his place. He beat Cash.

It's a fun story, but I've always assumed Rafa "beat" Cash.

Rafa's permanent birthday thread

That seems a bit much…a permanent birthday thread? But a fan thread, ok, why don't we say that? Or maybe a catchall birthday thread for players, like hoergren's in that WTA. What next…you say you want baby pictures?

Funny gif of Rafa and Miguel Angel I'd never seen:

With Richard Gasquet, who also had a birthday in June, and also turned 28. I think they're about 12 in the photo. It also looks straight out of a teen magazine.

This one is Rafa's grandparents, with Toni on the far right, and Rafa's dad, Sebastian, on the far left. Note Toni with the crossed arms and grim set of mouth. He hasn't changed. LOL!
