^ Women's Tennis Association confirmed last week Serena already toppled Hingis as the 9th longest reining No 1 in WTA ranking by lording on top of the ladder for 74 weeks, from February 18 2013 to July 21,2014.By spending her 74th straight week atop the WTA rankings this week,Serena has passed Martina Hingis run from May 2000 to October 2001 as the ninth-longest stretch at World No 1 in rankings history....WTA issued last week.
This is about consecutive weeks at No. 1, vs. total weeks at No. 1 -- correct?
I thought Special wanted to know if Serena had passed Hingis for total weeks, in which case the answer is no. Hingis = 209 / Serena = 198. Close enough that I'm sure she'll pass her.
Special: Just a few more weeks and Serena will have passed her.
And we all know that Hingis, in her last weeks at No 1, just played
to hold the No 1 spot as long as possible by playing every week
to amass points, which resulted in her foot injury.
