Is this an important or unimportant tourney this year? I thought this and another one share the honor in alternating years.

Dubai is the big one this year but Qatar is still a premier event with around $850.000 pricemoney and is seen as a lead up week to the big event. More of the players haven't played since AO. Last year it was the big event first.

Maybe it's her outfit, but I saw Osta playing today and she looks heavier to me. It could be why she's been so dismal lately.

My word it must be freezing in Doha. I see a lot of scarves and puffy coats in the stands.

Well do to all of the withdrawals, the young woman that beat Muguruza at the US Open last year to make the 3rd round (l. Barty), is into the quarterfinals. She just had to beat Stosur, who was a lucky loser. Probably gonna lose to Svitolina. BUT. Maybe not. Svitolina has won Dubai the last two years. But has lost fairly early in Doha every time she's played it. Maybe this is the year that she makes the semis and goes on to win it. Because she should. Muchova is only 22. Is still grinding. Isn't top 100. That's a match Svitolina should win. But, those are the types of matches these ladies lose ALL the time. And, with her history here. And Muchova definitely hungry to try to up her ranking to either be directly accepted into IW or at the top of the qualifying draw. And Miami after that if she can't crack the IW 6 week limit. Though Miami isn't really 6 weeks away either. I'm not exactly sure how it works either. But those two could determine if she gets direct acceptance into RG. So I'll definitely be curious to see if Muchova can pull off the upset. It'd get her 185 points if she made the semis. That puts her in the top 100. She's already getting 100 points for the quarterfinals. That puts her in the top 110. And, win or lose, she's probably slated to head to Dubai next week. She could be tired and lose quickly in the qualies. Or it could give her the confidence she needs to fight through that and qualify again.

Just found it interesting. I knew I recognized the name. Looked up her activity and saw that Muguruza upset and it took me back. I think I only caught a little of it. But it was a good match.

Kerbie is secretly hoping Svito will take out Simona. Simona is Angie's Kryptonite.

The plan is working. Svitolina up 4-1 in the third.

EDIT: Scratch that — it’s 4-4.

One thing is for sure. Simo will not go down w/o a fight. :nono:
Get ready for Svito to get pouty on court if she starts losing.... LOL
