Lizzie Dearden of the UK Independent is reporting that police are investigating allegations that a British junior tennis player Gabrielle Murray may have been poisoned during the Wimbledon Championships in order to sabotage her chances in the tournament.
18 year old Taylor was apparently left “close to death†in what was initially presumed to have been food poisoning.
Taylor became unwell during her Quarter Final match and then spent four days in intensive care.
After treating her, doctors diagnosed Leptospirois bacteria – carried by rat urine and something that can cause organ failure.
Dearden writes that “Officers in the London borough of Merton were investigating an allegation of poisoning with the “intent to endanger life†or cause grievous bodily harm.â€
