So much for the young babe showing. I see GARCIA and MLADENOVIC have entered as well. Kristina won the mixed title at Wimby.

Garcia already lost R1 to Dentoni from a set up. Mladenovic is on first match today vs Maria Joao Koehler.

We are almost done with the second round, There are a few matches remaining that will be played today, then we will have our last 8
Half of the quarters have been decided, included within those four ladies are Sara Errani and Silvia Espinosa.

I'll post results once quarters are completed and Semis decided.

While there is no thread for it. I expect Halep to win Budapest as well.

Semis are on for those who need a little tennis fix.

Vinci is playing as I write this, ahead 5-2 in the second set. She lost the first set 7-5

Right again Ozza. Winning her 3rd title in 5 weeks. Her record since RG is 16-1. The loss was a 3 setter to Li Na at Wimby in the 2R.

Congrats Simone :clap

The two Italians fought to the end but only one could win.

Roberta Vinci beat Sara Errani 63 36 63.

Great result for Roberta who had become Sara's pigeon of late. Apparently the Italian tennis federation doesn't distinguish between the winner and the finalist (both w/ the same hardware?).

I was surprised that Vinci defeated Errani in the Palermo final because I thought Errani was the stronger singles player.

I feel both play to many events, in singles and doubles.

2012 however, saw many players known primarily as doubles players do well and rise in rank on the singles side: Errani, Vinci, Hradecka and Hlavackova did well in many singles events.
