"The Tour is adding a week of grass before Wimbledon starting in 2015. Who knows, maybe one day we'll have a Masters 1000. I clearly would love more tournaments on grass :)"- Federer (AMA session)

Anyone know about this? I think it's very good for the game - i'd love to see a 1000 event on grass, perhaps Halle?

Fed leaking sensible info? wow.... had never heard of anything like it, but people have been praying for this for ages, no?

Halle? only if they completely re-vamp the venue (even though they just added a roof). i think it's seriously lacking in flair, tbh. history-wise, queens would be the candidate, but it'd be too london-centric, i guess. too bad Newport doesn't make sense travel-wise.

Yes, there is something happening indeed in 2015, but not exactly what you have mentioned.
In 2015 there will be one more grass event, but not one more week.
What will happen:

The Mercedes Cup held in Stuutgart, on clay as of now, the week following Wimbledon, asked to switch to grass and will be moved to the ame week as Halle and Queens.

EDIT: And Tommy Haas welcomed the news, and he said he'll surely play there in 2015!

Grass tournaments have long been under-represented, surely Fed would like it but too bad he will retire by the time they add a few more. There should be at least one MS1000, hard court has 5, carpet 1, and clay has 3. No wonder nobody wants to focus on grass court tennis anymore, you get Wimbledon and almost no reward elsewhere.

It makes sense, but this is still a little too little. They are adding a tourney in the same week as Halle and Queens? Just move Wimbledon back two weeks so we can have a proper MS 1000 event. Germany doesn't have a Masters event and it's close enough to London to feature a grass Masters. Cancel Paris Bercy or one of the North American events.

I sent an e-mail to queens club when it was said that wimby was moving on a week in 2015,

asking if (as seems obvious) queens will also move forward a week in 2015 so that players going deep at RG (qf onwards) will have a weeks break before the grass warm up starts..

they sent a reply saying the schedule of 2015 had not been sorted and any news would be poasted on the queens club website :nono

what we want from 2015 is..

2 wks RG,
1 wk break,
1 wk queens/halle,
1 wk Eastbourne/other,
2 wks wimbledon,
1 wk Newport usa,

I know I left out the new grass tourney thats converting from clay..but im not sure if its before or after wimbly so I left it out so save even more confusion.

Wimbledon IS moving forward in 2015, queens and halle as the premier grass warm ups should likewise move forward a week in 2015..i'm sure all the players at rg would agree with a full week off before queens/halle, maybe djokovic might play instead of his usual hit and giggle on grass at 'the noodles' in Liverpool.

same week as Halle and Queens? that's horrible, so each top guy gets a grass tourney of his own? i really hope it's just a temporary step.

stuttgart, with Mercedes money and image, could be a good choice.

Still feel like the best grass courters have been short-changed. I am sure Becker, Sampras and Federer would've all loved and benefitted if they had some MS1000 where they can get big ranking points. There are 3 on clay, 5 on hard and 0 on grass, that's disrespectful for one of the premier playing surfaces.

It's a small step in the right direction. I can't see all three - Stuttgart, Queens and Halle all being in the same week. I'd imagine one of them would move to give the players more options.
