Novak Djokovic rounded off an incredible year by defeating Roger Feder 6-3, 6-4 at the finals of the ATP World Tour Finals in London.
The top ranked Serb who lost to Federer in the round-robin stages of the tournament never looked seriously threatened as he romped to his fourth straight title of the season and his eleventh of a banner year.
Federer had chances to break in the opening set but couldn’t convert and was broken by Djokovic in the third game. Djokovic would break again to seal the first set.
The match wasn’t on of their classic encounters, but there was a sprinkling of highlights in a tension-filled clash.
The second set was closely contested but went with serve. Federer staved off three break points at 3-4 before finally holding to the joy of a partisan crowd. However, He wasn’t able to protect his serve the next time around and Djokovic broke to take the match and the championship by virtue of a rare Federer double fault.
Djokovic now has five ATP World Tour Final Titles (second only to Federer’s six) and ended his year with an 82-6 record. His Head to Head record against Federer is now an even 22 apiece.
