I'm interested in everybody's take on Nick Kyrgios...

A pantomime villain for many...

Like him? Loath him? Indifferent?

What's your take on his potential and upside? and what does Kyrgios need to do going forward?

he needs to get with the programme and stop guffing around with nonsense that leads to more nonsense. grow his brain so he stops carrying on like a 6yr old girl on Benzedrine..maybe try something really radical like just play tennis and not talking/swearing/boasting/farting /giving up during matches.

can win majors but needs to grow up and focus otherwise he will not win much. more nick less dick.

More Nick, Less Dick... Ha ha, love it.

Yeah, he's behaved like a jerk... but this guy has the biggest upside of all the young 'uns in my opinion.

He's very immature but if he can harness his arrogance in the right way and have the right people around him then he could go far. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to be learning from his mistakes so far, and I think a lot of that lies with the people around him.

I loved what I saw from Kyrgios at the US Open and I think his attitude is ideal for being a dominant player. He just needs to cut out the dropshots. He gifted Murray 7-10 key points with those doozies and that cost him the match more than anything.

People don't like his attitude in the tennis world, naturally, since the world of tennis is pretty much upper crust all-white and Kygrios brings some street flare and bravado. I do have to say that I find it very ironic that the same do-gooding patsies who condemned Donald Sterling with every fiber of their being and who likewise loathe Donald Trump also penned nasty commentaries about how "rakish" and defiant Kyrgios's attitude is. What Kyrgios said to Wawrinka is unexceptional trash talk in a black football or basketball setting, but on a tennis court, it sends the white nerdlings scrambling for their Twitter feeds to complain about "sexism".

His attitude could be right, if it can be harnessed in the right way. That streak needs to be channelled.

Well the wrong way for him to express his exuberance is to hit a grotesquely terrible dropshot and then throw his racket after the ball and start cursing and flailing his arms. That just makes him look like an ass and an immature punk to the average fan. I don't fundamentally see Kyrgios that way, but I understand that is how he comes across in those situations.

The main issue is preparation and decisionmaking within the points, i.e. eliminate the dropshots until you can execute them better. Dropshots for Kyrgios right now are like double faults for Nalbandian.

He just played a very good first set against Nishikori to take it 6-1.....I just wish he was a bit more crisp with his movement on the backhand side.

Well he needs to learn to play a whole match instead of a set here and there. Still, I'd like to see a Nishikori/Rafa match further down the line.

Yeah, well, I watched the first set before going to sleep and then I woke up only to find out that he lost the match. There are a couple technical problems with his game that he really needs to iron out, as far as the fluidity of his groundstrokes and not having lapses in his reactions. But I love his attitude and assertiveness.....there is so much potential there. I am rooting for him every week now.

I liked McEnroe, he was one of my favourites back then in 80's when I was a fan of tennis, but I hated his tantrums.

I still like Nick, I think his comment to Wawrinka was humorous, but I hope for his own good he won't continue with "Porky's" humour. Nick is still young and I see even Federer didn't give up on him, he knows he did some much worse things in Nick's age (tanking matches, anyone remembers?).

Saying this, Nick is not Mac and if he continues to shock people, everyone will have enough of it very soon.

I think Kyrgios's cultural symbolism is quite different than John McEnroe's, to put it mildly. But the bottom line for Kyrgios is, indeed, the bottom line. He has to start winning more. Murray still curses and whines in matches, but no one talks about it anymore because he has won two Slams (and also because people have seen it so many times that it has grown on them).

Honestly I don't mind players cursing or screaming on the court as I know emotions can get wild during matches. Nick's comment about the young lady is something completely different. It was rude and mean spirited, which I don't like. I really hope he can harness his energy into playing tennis and improving that, instead of all this other stuff that will just tick tennis fans more and more.

Kyrgios is not Mac and he will be nothing like Mac, but there must be something about him because of 4 tennis aces of today, 3 love him and take him under their wings. First it was Fed and Murray, now I read that No1e spends more time with him too.

As for Murray's swearing that in my opinion should be sanctioned each time he does it, like I always said that players who violate time should be punished each time they do it even if it is 50 times in a match. Besides, i don't see anything original in Murray's swearing. I know at least two other Scotsmen who made millions throwing F bombs before Murray, namely Billy Connolly and Gordon Ramsey.

Laver and Nole about Nick: http://www.ibtimes.com.au/nick-kyrgios-should-listen-rod-lavers-advice-novak-djokovic-1474704 Nick can learn a great deal from past and current champions. Federer also offered some help to Nick.
Donna Vekic should help him to respect women too !!

From what I hear she already helped Troicki, Coric, Kokkinaikis and Wawrinka. ;-)

I honestly don't think swearing should be sanctioned. Most of us swear at the TV watching our favorite players, so the players in question should be cut some slack when they do it. After all, they're the ones under insane pressure. Yeah yeah, they have thousands of eyes on them, they should be role models, bla bla... whatever, they're human. And I don't see why athletes should be role models but that's a different discussion.

As far as Kyrgios goes, I think you gotta earn the right to act a certain way by winning. He hasn't. There's a difference between throwing tantrums and coming off like an entitled spoiled brat. I think he needs to at least find the in between medium.
