Did you guys see this? Apparently next year in November they will have a tournament for under 21 players that is formatted similarly to the WTF.

As a fan of following up and comers I am stoked for this! And now we will have a tournament where we can see them battle head to head!

What do you all think of this new tournament?

I am assuming the rules will be a player has to be under 21 through the duration of the tournament. With that in mind, who do you all think will make it into that tournament by the end of next year? (the top 7 will be awarded strictly due to atp points, while the 8th spot will be a wild card spot).

This would be my list:

Zverev
Coric(barely squeezes in age wise)
Fritz
Tiafoe
Duckhee Lee
Rudd
Shapovalov

It was mentioned in another thread, I think the World Tour Finals one. Yeah, it is an exciting idea.

I think your list is a good one, although at this point I'd rank Khachanov above Coric among players born in 1996. Also, for 2017 I think Kozlov and Rublev will probably be ranked higher than Ruud and Shapovalov.

Zverev is a no-brainer. Khachanov, Coric, and Fritz are all probable. Then it comes to a big list of maybes: Tiafoe, Lee, Kozlov, Rublev, Ruud, Shapovalov, Mmoh, Tsitsipas, Opelka, Medvedev, Donaldson, Chung, Kokkinakis. A lot can happen in the next year, especially with the young players.

I'm not sure how they are going to determine under 21(beginning of season? at the event itself?). But if it is at the event itself that would eliminate Khachanov, Donaldson, medvedev and Chung.

Yeah kozlov and rublev were on my original list but decided to let my homerism shine through with the shapo pick;)

I haven't read an actual article, but I thought it was 21 and under.

I am curious to know if there are points rewards for this tournament. And, will those points count towards ATP rankings?

Normally speaking, an under x tournament means, players should not be aged x or higher at the beginning of the tournament.

According to this article, it is "21-and-under" - so yeah, anyone age 21 can still play.

This sounds great! It would be really exciting to get to watch these guys slug it out early on in their careers. I think it would help with familiarizing with these guys games.
