Novak won Wimbledon but it is not surprise for you because – even before Roland Garros I told you so he will.

That match with Rafa was the best I saw in last two years and luckily Novak had enough energy left to beat Anderson on his 3rd consecutive day playing. It was pleasant surprise to see Novak managing to lift his game up whenever it was necessary in the third set when facing break points.

I am so happy with Novak’s game and attitude that I can only hope for two improvements, besides more self-confidence that will certainly come as a result of winning the Wimbledon and will consequently result in even more efficient and more beautiful game. These are:

1. I’d like Novak to learn to serve in exactly 25th second after bouncing the ball for that long. While it is within rules, this seems to annoy his haters almost as much as his success. Surprisingly, they don’t seem to miss any of his matches.

2.To start with impersonations again

I am looking forward to the rest of the season because new Novak’s domination seems inevitable.

Hey Mastoor, congrats on the win. I agree with what you say about the third set tie break, I was really positively surprised, didn’t expect it.

The ball bouncing shows he is still quite vulnerable imo. And yes to number 2, people don’t like that?

If he only knew he should had that surgery right after Roland Garros 2016.

You think it was only the injury? I don’t know. It matters not now, I’m looking forward to the uso, where he has underachieved in all those finals, time to reel in the jug this time.

You come back right on cue, @Mastoor. And calling for world domination. There really has never been a poster as zero-to-sixty as you. :lol3:

In fairness, I think the story is of course way more nuanced. Novak is bouncing the ball like crazy, I am still quite worried he is prone to upsets. Perhaps on par now with the other two. But the past two weeks and Queens was really good. I thought the FO was good as well actually, perhaps he needed that Cecchinato loss.

I don't know that he "needed" the Cecchinato loss, but he has obviously been gaining ground back to top form since RG. I agree with those that say he's not 100%, so I don't think "domination" is imminent. But he's getting back to form, for sure.

If he would have reached the final, Nadal might have had less Djokovic in his head at Wimbledon. There is no doubt in my mind Nadal would have won that match at the French if it had happened. It all plays out nicely.

Novak is not 100% based on his match against Rafa at SF. But, one should not use that match to judge his current level. That match was played very tentatively as Novak was not sure whether he is really capable of beating Rafa or not. However, the moment he won that match (no matter how ugly the win may be), he gained a lot of confidence. That confidence will actually make him come back to his 100% sooner rather than later.

LOL the serbinator would've got terminated in the RG final. Glad he tanked and denied Nadal of the mental edge that he needs over his main rivals to take them out off clay.

Had dull beaten faker in the RG final, he would've beaten him in the Wimbledon SF too.

I get your point, but it's not a given.

and his 100% doesn't necessarily equate to what it was before. Entropy is a bitch...

Agreed. I'm not expecting 2011 or 2015 Djokovic to walk through that door. But with that said it's scary he could be far from his best and still beat Nadal in a major semi. If he consistently finds something close to that level he had in the 1st set vs Nadal he will dominate again. At age 31 with a recent injury I'm not banking on that.

I don't find it that scary tbh. Everyone seems to be letting Rafa off the hook. It's one of the most obvious examples of mental frailty from Rafa in my view. Against which other player would Rafa not hit winners off those short balls Novak kept supplying for most of Saturday? To me that win was less about what Novak did, and more about the subsidised rental space Djokovic has in Rafa's head

I meant from the aspect that Djokovic could and probably will get a lot better than what we saw from the semifinal. We think alike on that match, in fact I'd say Novak lost the plot early in the 2nd set and never really regained it, and actually got worse as the match went on. Yet he won 2 of the last 4 sets and the match. I don't know how it happened either.

He may not get back to 2011 or 2015 Novak in terms of level of play. But, as the field is a joke, Fed is old, Nole living in Rafa's head, JMDP having BH issues, Andy and Stan out in the pasture, Novak can come close to actually matching 2011 or 2015 result wise, even if not in level of play.

Its not a new era of dominates he's lucky that federer lost in the Qtrs finals, plus a cupcake draw in which even murray would have gotten to the semis also nadal lost the match in hes mind before it even started.
