The 71-year-old was sanctioned for multiple breaches of conduct rules during a Fed Cup tie between Romania and Britain in April, including making a "highly inappropriate and racially insensitive" comment about Serena Williams's unborn child.

The governing body's internal adjudication panel also found him guilty of making "advances of a sexual nature" towards British team captain Anne Keothavong, and "abusive and threatening comments" to members of the British team, match officials and a member of the press.

Thoughts on this? Nastase has been fined $10,000 also to go with his 3 year ban.

It has nothing to do with political correctness. It's to do with rude, boorish, inappropriate behavior and comments. I have no opinion about the $10K fine, though I wonder what becomes of these fines. It would be nice if the ITF applied it to Fed Cup, in particular. But keeping him away from ITF team competitions for 3 years is correct. And I sincerely hope that Romania never taps him to be involved in women's tennis again. He's never going to change his stripes.

His current wife has filed for divorce against him saying that she finds it objectionable that he still financially supports his former wife. So, he has too much money. They should have fined more. But, I guess that is the max they could do as per rules.
