This was ones of those matches that I believe that Novak alone among the Big 3 would lose. It falls into his queasiness about being the hate character in a drama. He overcomes that feeling at times, but he’s the only one who has to work on himself in that regard.

Having said that, Andy deserved it and I was glad he won. Like his USO triumph the year before, and every other match he plays, he just gets stuck in and gives his all. He’s not going to hand it to anyone. But this final in Wimbledon was especially big, and he rose to the occasion. I remember a long tense final game, which he did well to win. Novak finally grew a pair and so at least that game was competitive..
