Montpellier / Sofia HC indoor events

This week's HC events from Europe did not attract much attention on this board but by the SF rounds is worth to take a look at the outcome.
In Montpellier was the strongest field this week and the favorites pretty much came through, top 3 seeds: Goffin, Pouille, Tsonga as well as 5 seed Gasquet made it to the SF. Khachanov and Rublev, the young promising Russians lost to more experienced Goffin and Tsonga.

In Sofia was a different story. Aside the top seed Wawrinka, the field got decimated and now in the SF there will be 3 players who have never been at this stage in their careerr: Copil ranked at the bottom of the top 100 and other 2 players Basic and Kovalik who have not been in the top 100 ever. And none of them is young, just those players on the Challenger tour who suddenly got a major break or breakthrough.

Thanks for making a thread, herios. I watched some of Wawrkinka v. Troicki today. Stan looked formidable in the first set, but Troicki pulled it back together in the 2nd, though he lost in the TB. Stan looks fit. Surely his tournament to lose. In Montpellier, Gasquet has a great record there.

Montpellier semi are going to be fun to watch, I that Think like 80% chance a French player going to win. But D.goffin a really good player surprised that he had a poor AO.

Wawrinka got upset surprisingly today in the SF in Sofia by Mirza Basic. This way the Bosnian Basic will break through into the top 100, being ranked 129 at this time.
This event will have two new finalists, therefore a new ATP title holder is guaranteed, either Copil from Romania 27y) or Basic (26y) from Bosnia.
