Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza won their first Slam title together, beating Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the 2015 Wimbledon women's doubles title. Mirza is the first ever female Grand Slam Champion from India! This is Hingis' 10th women's doubles title and 18th total Grand Slam title. Pretty Amazing.

What you mean is that this is Hingis's 10th GS ladies doubles title.

Congratulations to Sania Mirza. This is her first ladies doubles GS title. However, she has won three Mixed Doubles GS titles. :clap

This year Sania has achieved two important goals: Getting ranked #1 and winning a Ladies Doubles titles in a GS.

Of course both are achieved with the help of illustrious Martina Hingis. I am sure this pair will have more success coming to them in the near future.

In India, Sania is a huge celebrity. She gets tons of money in endorsements alone that is actually disproportionate to her actual achievement on court. But, with very few girls even trying their hand at any sports, Sania is a big. This fact, combined with the good looks of Sania and the large population of India, her market value is bound to soar.

Why would she dump her when they are so successful together?. This is not a one off. They Won IW, Miami and Charleston together before claiming Wimbledon.

...and? lol What is she supposed to do if she loses a match and it's all on her partner? Pannetta lost that USO when they had a lead in the final! I didn't blame Martina at all for DUMPING her! :dodgy: They don't telecast much of the double these days, but from what little I have seen Martina's still magnificent and if there's a loss, it is ON HER PARTNER! Paes wasn't the best at the AO, but they still won because she was unflappable! She follows in her namesakes footsteps; able to win tournaments with just about ANYONE! :clap :dodgy:

Here's a novel idea. How about being amazed at what these two have done together in so short a time and look forward to what they might do together and who can stop them at the U.S. Open?

Paes is nobody in singles. But he is definitely one of the top doubles player.

Also, Martina and Paes both play for the same team in WTT of BJK and so they have established tremendous chemistry between them playing for multiple years together. Most of the mixed doubles teams (except for very few like Kristina and Nestor) are formed on an ad hoc basis and so often they don't have good coordination on court. But, Martina and Paes do.

By the way it is a thrilling match. Martina and Sania lost the first set. Then, they won the second set in a tie-breaker. In the third set, they were trailing by 2-5 and then won the last five games to claim the trophy. You can see the highlights on Wimbledon website.

Oh Mirza's a keeper! Hingis will appreciate that kind of fight out of her partner! Congrats! :clap  :dodgy:

It was just a joke about Hingis' predilection for dropping partners. She's always done it. She's ruthless.

Well which is it; a joke or serious? I just watched a bit on ESPN and Mirza really pulled her weight and matched Martina, winner for winner! I think she found someone that she can work with on a long term basis and maybe win multiple titles for years to come! :clap :popcorn  :dodgy:

Thanks in advance.

As I just said... a joke. I wasn't making any kind of judgement call about Mirza. She's been a solid doubles player for a long while.
