Juan Martin Del Potro continued his march in the Singles competition at the Rio Olympics with a hard earned win over

“I’m getting better. I’m in good shape, but I don’t know if I’m prepared to play six or more matches,” said Del Potro said the match.
“This week I’m just going slowly, trying to get better every day.”

Taro Daniel of Japan added a second scalp to his campaign, taking care of Britain’s Kyle Edmund. He now faces Del Potro.

Another top seed exited the tournament when Jo-Wilfried Tsonga went down in straight sets to Gilles Muller.

In the late match, Kei Nishikori of Japan was made to work hard for his straight sets victory (7-6 6-4) by Australian John Millman.

into the qf....is that batista agut a lefty ?. del potro better watch out, could be tricky, all those weird angles. o_O

del potro's bh is going to be given a work out I think..although he is hitting more 2hbh now, plus has a decent cc slice bh too.

I have a bad feeling the mega pusher will beat DP. It'd be nice to see DP win gold but it is doubtful, he is going to have to go through Rafa and Murray after beating Nole early. And DP has struggled a bit with scrubs these past couple rounds.

RBA isn't a mega-pusher. You're thinking of Simon, and he's out. My other feel-good story would be Monfils.

Agree to disagree on RBA. I know you like him as one of your precious Spanish Armada members.

I like Le Monf but I don't really see how it makes a feel-good story like Del Po. Le Monf's career hasn't been impacted by injuries anywhere near as much as DP's.
