Men's Doubles RG16 Edition

Men's doubles kicked off yesterday. Here are some interesting pairs.

1. Bryan Brothers
2. Sock & Pops
3. Stepanek & Zimonjic (Stepanek is 38 and Zimonjic turns 40 on June 4th during the tourney).
4. Rojer & Tecau
5. J. Murray & Burno Soares
6. Nestor and Qureshi

I said it in some other thread before this thread was created. Stepanek and Zimonjic have a combined age of 77 years. They beat a pair with a combined age of 47 years in straight sets.That is a 30 year age difference between the pairs.

Moreover, it is not some useless pair. It is 22 years young phenom Dominic Thiem and 25 years young Serbina Lajovic.

His name is Matkowski. An experienced doubles player who used to play with compatriot Fyrstenberg.
He has in his resume 16 titles in doubles, best result in slam a final at the USO in 2011.

^Yep. I actually follow doubles a bit so in fact I knew who he was. I remember that doubles pair in the YEC in 2011 (maybe 2012), and they were fun to watch.

I hate to play doubles but to watch it is a different story. Doubles matches at the Davis Cup are highly entertaining. I can´t help but think that with a little incentive - or smarter promotion -- doubles could attract more attention than what it gets now (almost zero).
