After a very good first half of the 2015 season with Australian Open runner-up finish and a Rome title, Maria Sharapova has pretty much disappeared since her Wimbledon SF loss to Serena. She keeps trying to come back but it's just not happening. Still, she's ranked No. 3 in the world. Last I heard, she is still planning on playing in the WTA Finals next month. She will be 29 next year but it's hard to see her lasting another five years like Serena.

There's no doubt that she is one of the great players of her generation with five Grand Slams, one WTA Championship, an Olympic silver medal, a Fed Cup and 35 WTA tour titles to her name.

What does Sharapova's future look like? She did come back from injury a few times during her career but could this be the beginning of the final chapter of her career? Can she win another Slam? Will she ever beat Serena again? Next year will be a very important year for her it seems.

I hate to vote that she'll win 1 or more but Maria often suddenly peaks when expectations for her success have sunk back to 0. She's still intimidating to other players especially on a grand slam stage and (shockingly enough at this stage) especially on clay. I could see her winning another RG. Her schedule is always so limited and spotty that she stays fairly healthy. Not to mention a huge amount of her income is contingent on, at very least, showing up to play on tour. I'd say that will keep her playing till about 32.

And this is relevant in this thread how? - I can not believe that some persons are allowed to post any crap which is completely irrelevant to the subject of the thread

My believe is that if Masha at least plays to the end of 2018 and she's healthy most of the time then she could win 2 more slams - one in every even year - And yes I'm sure that Masha - if she can play all her scheduled tournaments - will be able to hang on in the top 10 during that time if not in the top 5

I voted for "No more Slams but another 2 or 3 years in the Top Ten."

Like so many Maria-related questions, it largely depends upon Serena. If Serena were to retire in the next year or two, for example, Maria's chance at winning at least one more major would increase quite a bit; however, if Serena continues to play a few more years, then I think Maria will have aged out of contention.

I think other players will take care of Serena - There are plenty of Razzanos - Makarovas or Vincis (to name some) out there who will "play out of their mind" when they meet Serena - Vinci has also revealed how to beat Serena - put the ball on the court and run - I'm therefor sure that Masha will do just fine with or without Serena in the years to come - She has so far :)

Personally I don't like to make shitty comments about players but yanno - I can do too - So while we're talking about "smug behinds" - Maybe tossip's love #1 Serena could lose some - Maybe it was all that weight from her behind which made her move in slow motion at the US Open and a reason why her knees hurt so much so that she had to withdraw for the rest of the year
- Oh wait ..... maybe that was for an injured heart?

Not a pretty sight except of course for those men with an exceptional opinion about how an attactive behind should look like :lolz: - And BTW - it's not like Serena is known as the ultimate dream woman for the majority of men *shudders* - Who knows for what suspect reasons skinny Mouratoglou is hanging out with her

Wow!! - Those were very intelligent and well-reasoned responses - Very impressive - well done guys!! :clap
And lookie!! - Kirijax and tossip like 2 peas in a pod - It's no surprise that they feel some kinda bond with each other and that they both are a little butt-hurt (pun intended) because of my Serena rant ;)
