The number 3 seed is out, beaten by the pocket rocket. Did injury play a role? We have to wait to find out. Congrats to Dominika, commies to Maria and her fans........except for my Sherona, lol.

I know I am falling for the trap laid here. But, I don't think there is any specific injury
to attribute this loss to. The shoulder issue was an ongoing thing for a long time.

I did not watch the entire match completely. Apparently, she took a medical time out
before the beginning of the 3rd set. In the post match interview, she claimed some hip
injury. Don't know the details. In particular, don't know whether she had the injury going
in to the match or acquired it during the match.

When players are injured either before or during matches they enter the "twilight zone" during the presser. They are damned if they talk about the injury and blasted for distracting from their opponent's victory. If they are tight-lipped, then they are accused of being holding back or being deceptive by reporters. How much credit is enough when talking about an opponent's play? Should the ratio of injury talk and credit to opponent be 50-50, 60-40, 70-30, 20-80? This becomes a no win situation for the player.

Why should Sharopova care what anyone says; she's a worldwide conglomerate onto herself? I'm no fan, but hard to be surprised her losing early! How she gets so much credit winning a major every 3 or 4 years has been beyond me! Good riddance with all that shrieking on the court! Too bad the same couldn't happen to Aza today! :cry :nono

Didn't she also have a hip injury when she fell

down at Wimbledon?
