Rafa has won all 3 clay meetings in straights. The most recent was a QF in Monte Carlo last year. Can Stan's new found confidence break the tide against the Spanish bull?

You said it. If it isn't clear after the Fuentes case that Spain is corrupt I dunno what more proof we need. That said, in terms of favouring the home favourite Spain is no different than any other country.

Rafa in two. He would be the favorite anyway and on top of that Stan has played so much tennis the last two weeks that it will almost inevitably catch up with him in this one. I'd say a competitive first set and and easier second set, both in favor of Rafa.

I find it hard to believe that they would consciously set up a campaign to ruin Wawrinka's chances though. It's not as though he was expected to make the final.

Sure, I agree, it is unfair, but they do it everywhere. Whoever is likely to get the most viewers on television during prime time usually also plays a huge role in the order of play. In that regard they probably could have done a better job if they had actually given Nadal the first evening matches. But I don't know if this tournament, or how much of this tournament is televised in Spain.

Rafa in two (hopefully entertaining) sets. I would like Stan to win just because it is likely to be one of a handful of shots for him to win the title. It might give him some extra motivation to fight the fatigue. But being realistic Rafa is just a much better player and he'll take this one I guess.

As to the home advantage, I don't see the problem. All tourney's do this. They want to sell tickets among other things, and you sell more tickets if the local favorite stays in the tournament. Even if its not just the tickets it makes sense, it's just those little things they can do for their own players. It's a little unfair, but it's really a minor thing.

Uncharacteristically, I voted Rafa in 3. Stan may be a bit gassed, but he's motivated, and playing well. I think Rafa will beat him, but I'll be wearing my lucky shirt. :angel:

Dunno about Rome but in RG if you mean playing in the rain I think any tournament would have stopped when it started raining heavily like that last year. It was ok at first but got pretty heavy so they had no choice really. I know Djokovic got annoyed 'cos his momentum was gone (I did too 'cos I knew the outcome after that and checking weather Paris for Monday) and it ended up sunny next day which obviously completely changed the outcome but they're playing tennis, not water polo.
