Interesting...I see Maria retiring first. That old shoulder of hers will probably give out. She just lost an exhibition to Ana in Bogota. It might be an exhibition but Maria is very competitive and would want to have won to silence everyone from speculation. We all know she is just a slightly above average athlete, so to have any form of injury makes her even less of one. I suspect she will come to realize this season that she is done. Sad part for her is that she will leave tennis and the biggest memory of her will be that she was Serena's punching bag. You can see it in her face after each loss. She is on the verge of tears each time: Miami, year end tourney, Olympics, Roland Garros and on and on and on and on and on.

Last season Maria made beating Serena her biggest priority and fired her coach when it didn't happen. That tells you that she knows that at the end of her career people will remember, more than anything else, even more than she won all four slams, that Serena made her look like an amateur.

I don't see the end of Maria's career but what does it matter? She hasn't won a slam in nearly two years. She has never won a slam two years in a row. She won her first slam nearly 10 years ago and yet has only won 4 slams. She's not a GOAT contender, hell she's not even a top 12 of all time player. She doesn't have the competitive fight to change her game enough to actually win consistently and when it matters.
