A rumor floating around here at the US Open is that Team Kei is about to make a coaching change - Kei's career has stagnated over the last two years and management feels a change is needed and Kei needs to hear a fresh new voice - management of course will take the blame for the change and not Kei - Japanese journalist revealed this a few days ago -

So Michael Chang is out? I thought he was doing a pretty good job with Kei. Nish has developed more consistency under Chang, for sure.

A Japanese journalist who knows everything about Kei said she has heard that there will be a change soon - Kei has been stuck in the same ranking range and management of Kei are exploring other coaching options to try to get Kei's career to take that next step -She said Chang and Bottini days could be numbered - Interesting rumor from a pretty reliable source as she goes to most of the big tourneys and covers Kei closely - she also wrote a book about Nishikori in Japanese -

Hey @scoop - do you think Nishikori did enough at the USO to put a change on ice?

It's hard to find a better option than Chang who is no doubt a brilliant tennis mind - But players can tire of the same voice and same routines - It's going to be a tough call for Team Nishikori - I'd reluctantly do the change ONLY if they were able to acquire a very special new coach with experience in winning majors and achieving no 1 (Safin Rios Agassi TJohansson Goran Hewitt are about the only worthy options I can think of for Kei) -

Don't really see any of those as an upgrade over Michael Chang. Hewitt possibly, but don't really see an argument for any of the others. I think Chang is a good fit.
