John Tomic found guilty of assault

John Tomic, father and coach of Australian tennis world number 52 Bernard Tomic, has been sentenced to eight months in prison after he assaulted his son's practice partner in a Madrid street in May, a Spanish court said on Friday.
The 49-year-old, who said he acted in self-defence when he head-butted Thomas Drouet in the face and broke his nose, would not have to serve jail time, however, as his sentence was less than two years, a court official said.

Part 2 isn't any better. The injuries Drouet sustained were horrific. If the rest of it is true then it really was a horrible 7 months for him.

Has anyone asked whether Tomic (the elder) will be barred for life from ATP/ITF events as a result of this conviction?

If they haven't already done so, the ATP/ITF should also call Bernie in and discuss his conduct with respect to his employee. People that work for or with a player should not be taken advantage of like this.

Both of them could be severely penalized under the ITF Welfare Policy in the ITF Code of Conduct book in Appendix A.

From all reports, both father and son appear to be in need of psychological treatment.
A sad story, indeed.
