Is the WTA "Elite" Tournament the unwanted runt?

I don't like this tournament too much.  It always seems a pygmy of an appendage to the WTA Finals.  They are lucky that Venus is in to provide some star name value, but they should lose the "Elite" moniker because nobody really cares about it

Anyone like this tourney? I'd prefer the WTA Finals to be the final curtain on the season.

I really think the WTA has to 'rethink' the timing of this tournament,personally I would prefer it to be held before the YEC.The YEC should be the last tournament of the year.The only reason I am watching it,there are a couple of players,Pliskova and Svitolina,whose games I enjoy watching.I must admit the attendance of the fans have at times been good,it is a great stadium to watch tennis.

I agree Margaret, they really need to play this before the WTA Finals to give it justice. If it gets the paying customer through the door then that's great... but the YEC really should be the "end of year". Hopefully the WTA will come to their senses... it's not going to be a scheduling issue as players won't be playing both events.

It's the first year for the new format and it's debut in China. I believe it's going to be like this for the next 5 years including this year. 2016's calendar is out and it shows same timing.

Anyway, here are the finalists:

Heart says Venus, head says Karolina. First meeting between these two, so anything can happen.

One thing is for sure, experience advantage goes to Venus.
