Of course as a Halep fan I don't agree with that. But I kept hearing that phrase thrown around.
So as we're at the tennis Year End, before adding the YEC points, here is how Serena Williams and Simona Halep won their ranking points this year:
Halep/Williams: Grand Slams 2640/2440; PM and P5 2345/3230; P and intl 415/1475

For a clearer perspective this is in percentages:
Williams: GS 34%; PMP5 45%; Others 21%
Halep: GS 49%; PMP5 43%; Others 8%

I rest my case.

Are you implying Serena is a point chaser, or more of a point chaser, because she underperformed in the slams, and Halep underperformed in the tour event?

I'm not implying anything, I'm posting numbers.
Anyone saying Halep = point chaser should think again. Basically they say Serena is even worse.

I think in general Serena usually goes further in tournaments hence the accumulation of points, and Serena usually only goes for the bigger tournaments in general hence the possibility to accumulate more points. I think someone who is a points chaser is your Jelena Jankovic's, Kerber's and Radwanska's of the WTA who have to play as many tournaments to maintain a high ranking because they usually go out to a Maria or Serena.

My point in fact is: no one is a point chaser. If Serena needs 20% of her points from the lower tournaments to be #1 at year end, I think it sums up the discussion
