I got invited to join a science forum the other day by 1 of my twitter friends who I'd been chatting to & sharing poetry with. She ended up being it's founder & sole administrator & followed me immediately so I followed her back. I'm getting on well. The content is interesting though I think it needs a translate function as some posters are Dutch & speak only Dutch (unless I try learning the language. There is a poetry section so I copied & pasted some of my poems. The function where sometimes you have to wait so long to post isn't admins fault but xenforos. I didn't like being put straight in chat as I'd just introduced myself then had to introduce myself in chat too so somebody thought I was a bot. The administrator was straight up about how much it actually cost to keep these forums running. It seemed a lot of money to me to allow lots of different people from all walks of life & nationalities to communicate, have a laugh, inspire & share things with each other. She asked for suggestions. I asked for delete function. She said there was 1 until people abused it having fiery discussions & deleting or throwing a paddy & deleting all their content which wasn't good when she wanted content so we're actually lucky we have the decision whether to delete our stuff at all. It's only a small forum without many members & she has a trash section for all threads that don't meet the right standard or banned people who have intimidated others so we actually do have a lot of freedom & choice here & it made me realise how much the admin team actually do especially when I got pictures replacing some words in a couple of my poems & asked what happened & was told that she must have forgotten to wrap some smilies so we really should be thanking them for all their hard work, help, support & the opportunity to communicate, have a laugh, inspire & share things with each other. They even chat with us sometimes too though they are busy. They really don't need to see non-constructive criticism & back-stabbing. Well done & thank you very much, admin team.
