How did everyone come up with their TTF handle? Some of you have some obvious names but some of you have names that would be interesting to hear about.

My name name comes from where I'm from and where I live now. Kiri is from Kirishima, the city I live in in Japan. Jax come from Jacksonville, Florida where I was born and raised. I use it on Twitter as well.

This may have been done before here but I couldn't find anything and there are some new members so here it is.

At the 2008 Miami Masters, Novak Djokovic was upset in his first match by South African Kevin Anderson. I had missed the match and when I read the article headline I was pretty surprised by the result. So I clicked, and low and behold, Novak had one of the most ridiculous excuses I remember anyone coming up with:

"In the last point my shoelace was broken but I'm not trying to find excuses," said Australian Open champion and world number three Djokovic. "He deserved to win."

And that's how "Broken Shoelace" was born. That was in the old tennis.com forum days of course. Hard to believe it's been 7 years.

Mine is a mixture of my first name and initials of middle and last names. My avatar is of the late great Levon Helm, the drummer, mandolin player and most prominent lead singer of The Band. That is why I say that my location is "up on cripple creek"--that was one of The Band's signature (and Classic) tunes.

Now you have me wanting to go check out the band and the song. ;)

My handle comes from the title of a book. It is a recreational math book authored by
Mathematician Ian Stewart who is a Fellow of Royal Society (FRS). The very first chapter of it
is a beautiful article that analyzes tennis scoring scheme using the theory of random walks.
You can read more about it here.

Do I need to explain my Avtar? Unlike several other posters who are fans of particular players
in their Avtar, I am the fan of the GOAT, whoever that may be. :snicker

"Recreational" and "Math" are two words that should never go together. :snicker

Your pic gets my vote for "Best Avatar".

I agree with you. That phrase gives the wrong impression that only some type of math is fun when
in reality all math is fun.
