Really enjoyable match between Gauff v Teichnam their first meeting
Coco won the 1st set 63....really impressed the way she moves to the net, at 16 years old she has also played a lot of doubles in her young career and it shows ( reminds me of how Venus and Serena played doubles at a young age).
Teichmann cleaned up her UFE in the 2nd set ,she has a great fhand and a lefty,solid serve,though her bhand is her weaker side,kept her intensity up,was down a break,then took it to a t/break which she won 76(6).
The match will now go into a decider.(Serena's match will be up next when this match finishes).
A very close t/break for the final set with Coco does well under pressure and survives a close match against Teichman

I saw much of that match, too. It was really great, especially for this part of the year and with players being so short on practice. Great win for Coco.

A controlled,aggressive 1st set from Osaka over Cornet 62.
Very solid all round 1st match from Osaka d Cornet 62 62......liked the fact she mixed up slices and some volleys in her match,nice variety,she usually likes to stick to the baseline.

Swiatek in a bit of trouble losing the 1st set to K.Juvan (ranked 104) 62......off to work will check scores later

Swiatek was in trouble but only in the first set. Nice to see her back on tour - her first match since FO and she show that she is determined to play well. Juvan is an interesting player had a brilliant first set, where there was very little Swiatek could do. Swiatek got her play together in second and showed why she won on RG. Coming #1 me thinks. My first WTA match since - well when was it - sorry I'm getting old.

H2H 1-1 Kanepi won Charleston 2019,Mertens 2020 RG 2nd rd.This is Kaia first final since 2013 and I would love to see her win.

Mertens was broken serving for the 1st set 5-4,Kanepi has lifted her game,it has been a tight 1st set so far.

Mertens showing off her all round game and Kanepi is tending to over hit and needs more controlled aggression in her shots,too many UFE.
