The Tournament:

The GERRY WEBER OPEN is one of seven grass-court events on the calendar, re-categorised as an ATP World Tour 500 tournament from 2015. Held since 1993, the event is played on four outdoor grass courts and is a part of the ATP World Tour 500 series on the ATP Tour schedule. The event has been upgraded as of 2015 from a 250 series to a 500 series tournament.

The Centre Court (the Gerry Weber Stadion) has 12,300 seats and a retractable roof which can be closed in 88 seconds so that tennis games can continue with a closed roof when it begins to rain.

Roger's draw is full of landmines...and of course I am talking about the Roger that lost to Haas, not the one that won the AO and the sunshine double.
Actually, just looking at his quarter it's tough, whichever Roger you're talking about. Mischa Zverev looms immediately, then whoever gets out of the scrum just below him, they're all dangerous, including F. Mayer, who is the defending champion. Then for his troubles, he might get Nishikori or Karlovic, for example. The bottom half is much less loaded.

I'd say the bottom half is tougher. It'd be pretty bad if he doesn't at least reach the final. For match play purposes it's fine if he reaches the semis.

I'm not sure what players you're looking at, but the top is loaded with dangers on grass, and of the moment. The bottom has Thiem, Dustin Brown, Kohlscrieber. Based on what I saw from Sasha Zverev, I'm not expecting this to be the season where he breaks out on grass. Still, I agree: if Roger survives to QF or SF, he should be fine for match-ready going into W.

You're talking up Mischa Zverev and then say that the way better Zverev probably won't do much on grass. I disagree, id say Zverev is a dark horse at this Wimbledon, no reason to think he won't be dangerous on grass even this year.

Karlovic in theory should be the only danger from the top half if Roger is ready to go. Nishikori on grass and Pouille aren't too scary

Mischa Zverev has a game that is suited to grass, and his little brother needs a lot of work on his net game. Florian Mayer is in Roger's immediate path, and he's the defending champion. I think Pouille and Paire are scarier than the likes of some down at the bottom half, but we'll see how it shakes out.

I don't see any problems with Roger winning his quarter. Even after that, his prognosis is not too bad.

One should keep in mind that the draw at Queens is traditionally loaded with lot of good players than Halle.

Wow. I like the draw. Is this Lu the old Lu? I like the draw because it will give us nice matches on grass. Fed vs Mischa, Fed vs Pouille/Paire and Fed vs Zverev, All good matches.

Confidence is a very funny thing...Right now he will feel like he can beat anyone.
If Lucas wins the Webber tournament, I will spend one hour defending Federer against those evil Rafa fans (Carol, PM, Tennisman, Moxie and acourse Myself).. however if Lucas doesn't during Wimbledon I would hope we can have you be Rafa fan for a day to respond to Front, Darth,GSM and the like..is that a wager?

@isabelle or anyone know what's going on with Gilles Simon? He's been quietly sliding down the rankings and he's 10-13 this year.

But I am not claiming anything with my post...Just saying confidence is a funny thing, that's all. It makes you feel unbeatable. But that does not concern other players of course :)
