I really feel bad for her.  I don't know if she is going to be successful in this lawsuit but the organizers should have dealt with the situation much better than how they did.  They should have waited until all matches were done and all players were off the premises.

This was actually the first I thought of when I read the news of her accident especially when it happened in the USA in which they are very suing happy - Personally I think Genie is right to sue IF indeed the floor was slippery because of a cleaning procedure and the door was not closed - It's obvious a case of negligence and the USTA should pay up for caused injuries and it's consequences

Genie is silly getting embroiled in a war with the USTA... apparently she's claiming millions in compensation...  The cleaner left a wet floor... s**t happens. I'm pretty adverse to compensation payments - it tends to remove all areas of personal responsibility and genuine accidents.

I think Bouchard will ask for $5~$10 Million.

CNN Sports Article:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2579300-eugenie-bouchard-files-lawsuit-against-usta-over-locker-room-fall-at-us-open

Among the other factual allegations brought forth by the filing:

18. The Defendants "failed to provide any warnings whatsoever about the substance.

19. Bouchard sustained a "severe injury to her head including, but not limited to, a concussion."

22. As a result of Bouchard withdrawing from the US Open and subsequent tournaments, her world ranking has dropped 13 spots, and is likely to continue to drop.

The defendants are being charged with two counts of negligence (one against the USTA, the other against the USTA National Tennis Center Inc.).

Maybe I'm too "American" on this, as we tend to be a lawsuit nation, but if there was fault of the USTA, and she got a concussion from a fall resulting from their negligence to the player's welfare, and she had a loss of income because of it, I don't see why she can't sue for damages.  Players only have a small window to produce great results.  And a concussion is not a small thing, as we're coming to realize in American Football.  The players travel the world and rely on the tournaments to take care of them.  If the USTA was at fault of not doing that, she is within her rights.  They'll settle for something, and more care will be taken in the future.  And she will suffer no consequences, imo, if she holds up her end by being a big star.
