This video isn't completely "current", but it is close enough. It has to do with Federer, Nadal, and one other player some of you may know about.

Straight from Gasquet:

Yeah, it's not that current--2007, when he played Fed in the semis at Wimbledon. Nadal's hard court game has improved a lot since then. Gasquet has recently said that he hopes to get one victory against Nadal before he retires, but isn't that optimistic that he will.

We all know that Nalbandian was unplayable for a short period at the end of 2007 (Gasquet alludes to their Paris Masters match: 6-2, 6-4). Gasquet hardly knew at the time that Nalbandian would never really replicate that stretch of tennis again.

Further, the way Novak has manhandled him in recent years (their 3 set WTF encounter was an aberration), I've got to think that Richard's updated response would have Nole in his top 3.

Anyway, all joking aside, this essentially confirms what we all acknowledge: Nalbandian's level was insanely high in Paris 2007.

Undoubtedly Djokovic would enter the conversation. But his entrance would not remove Nalbandian, if that is what you are suggesting. In fact, if you take Nalbandian at the end of 2007, Federer on grass 2003-2007, Nadal on clay, and Djokovic 2011 or 2013 on hards, Nalbandian not only fits in, but is overall the best player of that group.

That isn't a slight to those other guys. It's just a compliment to Nalbandian's talent.

I agree with you and Gasquet that Nalbandian at the end of 2007 was the best player in this generation (in the sense of playing level).

I agree with you 100% there. I am really happy to see that we fully agree. Isn't it so wonderful?:)

Richie never beat Nalby and Nadal, he still has a chance to beat Nadal but Nalby is out of his sight now
He had some problems to beat Ferrer but he made it happen in 2013, so hope he"ll beat Nadal one day, it'ld be sooooo great for him
