Reading ESPN today I stumbled upon the headlines of an article and did a double take, then I read it and am still in disbelief. Sounds like something straight from Medieval France.

On top of the 2016 Olympics Brazil is hosting the World Cup next year. I think I will pass on attending

Darth, I read about that, too, and thought the same thing: straight out of the Middle Ages! When do we read about someone being "quartered" and their head posted on a stake feature in a modern news story? I love the sport, but it has an awful history of fan violence. It's not the mostly deadly incident, but I can only hope it's the most gruesome. With the public unrest over the government spending too much on the WC and the Olympics, and not enough on necessary infrastructure, I'd be surprised if FIFA isn't looking into Plan B for the World Cup.
