Not ATP, but no reason for you to miss it. I've translated some of Flavia's recent memoir. It's frank about her heartbreak over Moyá and how she overcame it. I hope you'll check it out:

Nice work, Moxie. I like Pennetta and seems she'd had a tough time with the love life. I wasn't actually aware of the whole situation with Moya. That was rough. She deserves better. Seems like a lovely bubbly person who deserves someone to treat her with respect.

^ Thanks for reading it, Front. I think she was brave for putting it all out there. Seems she wanted to be more than just what people see on a tennis court. Now at 32, she's won IW, her biggest title. Maybe getting a few things off your chest is useful. Anyway, I hope she yet has a few more tricks up her sleeve.

Yeah, hope to see her climb higher in the rankings and continue to do well. I suspect like many players out there, she'll hang around till the Olympics and maybe call it quits then.

Oh, shoot…I didn't translate that part, but she says she's hoping to have a much more focused approach to the upcoming Olympics than the last one. I wouldn't fancy her for the singles, but she could feature in doubles, if Errani could be pried away from Vinci, for example.

Thanks Moxie!

I didn't know that about Moya: bass turd is the right word for him. Snake and rat, at the same time. She seems to have come through that. I'll watch her career more closely, she's one I'll root for now!

Pretty girl, too. I noticed that last week when she won IW...

This book must have been cathartic for her; seems to have worked, too! Flavia has grit.

Thanks for translating and posting Moxie.
I really like what she's saying about basically 'losing yourself in a guy' and not making that mistake again.
I hope some of the younger WTA players listen and take this advice to heart.

I'm sure all the victims of Stepanek weren't too gutted when he dumped them :D

why are we talking a girl's love affair gossip on an ATP forum? who cares about how she overcame heartbreak over some guy in the context of things? this is a pathetic feminist attempt yet again to give wrong influence, at the wrong place. I am sure it suits your ideals: oh everybody, just look how a girl got cheated by an a**hole and how she overcame it blablabla how commendable is that? who a role model!

how about lets say it's way more appropriate to be posted in some "womens weekly" or crap like that? or put in WTA forum if you have to.

I wonder if any idiot would want to get into the same kind of gossip (how a guy was cheated by a girl and got heartbroken) in an WTA forum, because it may be very well received there..... definitely suits the level of that audience.

Aside from that (wrong topic here), Flavia is fine and seems like a likable person in general like many of her WTA peers. But 'lose yourself in a guy (or girl)' is a common occurance, she is not unique in that regard.

For the record, while Flavia does call Moyá a "bastard" twice in just the few excepts I read, she doesn't make him the author of her destruction. She rightfully, I think, blames herself, for losing "herself," and falling so far away from her own goals. In his defense, I think Carlos has become a respectable citizen…seemly committed partner, father and DC coach. What happened between them happened 7 years ago. I find Flavia's story poignant in it's honesty, about how hard and long it took her to get over it, but also interesting in the "tennis" sense, in that tennis players have real lives and are actual people. We tend to treat what they do on court as if it's everything about them. I think that Flavia was unusually forthcoming, but as she said, that's her, and she wanted people to know her. That seems fair, for a public persona to have her say, and, at least to me, it was compelling.

I am glad someone truly understands the gravity of the problem here on the ATP board, and has responded appropriately, while showing great aplomb I might add.

this is total crap and in no way does it justify how it should be in an ATP forum.

You ever wonder why you only post replies to Moxie? Oh wait, I remember one attempted bullying episode with Isabelle too. You don't like strong women, do you?

You look a bit sickly when you post, I must admit, although a doctor would be better qualified.

Or maybe a shrink...

I post a lot to you, Cali and many others, not sure if you are just not very bright or? besides, it never crossed my mind that Isabelle and Moxie are 'strong women'; you forgot to take your medicine or what? if anything, they are the opposite as their posts are obviously hormone-driven and agenda based, never had the courage to see and admit the facts as they are - not what 'strong' people do. In fact that's something you share with them in common... very weak brains.

Concrete example? Fed has no matchup issue with Nadal....

Tell me this, ricardo: why do you include so many insults in your posts? Why can't you disagree in a friendly way? What's with all the bile?

Ricardo knows the facts Kieran, and feminist knuckleheads like yourself need to get out of the way. Have you seen the amount of WTA gossip threads on the ATP board?!::mad: It makes it difficult to find the real talk of men's tennis. Not to mention, the title of this thread is a smoke screen, meant to make people think it's about men's tennis, instead of being able to simply not read a thread clearly marked as being about a WTA player and most likely about her love life. If that were the case, Kieran you may have a point, but things being as they are, I have to side with Ricky.

Also Moxie why did you spend all my money and come back with a bunch of hat boxes?! Moxie, you got some splainin to do.

Edit: Clarify box type.

But all the love life stuff, that made me think: ATP. Especially the mention of young Ralph's pal Moya.

Moxie, your feminist subtleties confused me and I bought a pup! How de divil was I to know this was about Flavia Pennetta, the WTA starlet?
