Ivo Karlovic is hospitalized in Florida after having a stroke. I couldn't find the news in English, this is in Serbian:

Good lord! This is not a reliable source, but it's in English:

http://www.tennisplanet.me/blog/2013/04/ivo-karlovic-is-in-a-miami-hospital-having-suffered-a-stroke-from-jenny-thanks.html

All thoughts going out to the gentle giant, Dr. Evil.

PS...Thanks, Mastoor, for bringing it to our attention.

This is sad news. They said it was a mild stroke, whatever that means, I hope he makes full recovery.

He's extremely young to have a stroke. Poor guy. Hope he recovers soon. His results have been terrible the last few seasons so maybe he'll retire.

I am sure that he is done playing professionally. He is not young in tennis terms and now this. I find it hard to believe that he would be back.

This is from Sports Illustrated:

http://tennis.si.com/2013/04/27/ivo-karlovic-miami-mild-stroke/

Croatian media reports Ivo Karlovic is in a Miami hospital after suffering a mild stroke.

Reports initially surfaced on a Facebook fan page and Croatian newspaper Večernji list confirmed the reports with Karlovic’s family.

The paper reports Karlovic was initially released from the hospital but was readmitted after falling ill again.

The 34-year old Karlovic, who at 6-foot-10 is the tallest man to ever play on the ATP World Tour, last played at the Sarasota Challenger two weeks ago, where he lost to 238th-ranked Denys Molchanov in the first round.

Bad news at only 34 years old. i believe he was admitted, then released, then re-admitted. Hopefully he makes a full recovery but likely the en d of his tennis career.

Very bad news. It is at a very young age.
Wish he recovers fully and soon.

Awful news, that is very young to have a stroke. Hopefully it was a "minor" stroke though it is very serious no matter what.

I hope it's a minor thing. I have a lot of respect for Karlovic. It's not easy for a guy with his height to be a tennis player. Wish him well.

I hope he recovers fully. Screw tennis, it is his life.

This is horrible news at any age, never mind at 34. I hope is a mild one, his age should help to recover.
And this is not about tennis anymore, forget about it (he was on his way out anyway).
Most likely his last competitive match was last week in Sarasota clay challenger, where he lost to Molchanov (Ukr) in the first round.

A lad in work had a series of strokes aged 24. Took a long time before he recovered, but he has a pacemaker, Warfarin, the whole lot. He does a lot of heavy lifting in work, too, but he regained his place and the doctors passed him fit, maybe two years after his strokes.

I hope Ivo gets well and he's like my pal in work, mobile and able in a short while...

Cheers Billie. Just saw it on tennis.com too. So that's better at least. Not half as serious as a stroke. Hope he recovers soon.
